Wolves boss McCarthy lauds new signing Hammill

Adam Hammill has earned the plaudits of Wolves boss Mick McCarthy following an impressive debut at Bolton. "He started okay and then he got better and better," said boss Mick McCarthy.

"He's got a confidence about him but he had a good pedigree coming from Liverpool and, whatever happened to him there when he got released, he was quite highly thought.

''So although he didn't play in their first team, we know we've got someone who's quite clearly a talented lad and we'll incorporate all his trickery into how we play.

"No-one is ever going to try to take that out of him providing he's doing it in the final third of the pitch. If he's doing it on the edge of our box I might have something to say.

"If you do it and get away with it everyone thinks it's great but if you lose the ball and it ends in our net, then it's not.

"He put a shift in, he tracked back, and he did everything I could have asked for a wide player."
