Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is ready to go into the Premiership season with Wayne Hennessey his No1.

The Express & Star says McCarthy believes Hennessey, who has played the lion's share of the friendlies, has put down a marker to be first-choice.

The manager said; "Wayne has been excellent in pre-season. I said to him I thought he could have done better with the goal at MK Dons, but so could a couple of others as well.

"That aside, he's had a great pre-season and has been terrific and really looked the part."
