Wolves boss Mick McCarthy won't have a bad word said against Aston Villa defender Richard Dunne.
Villa fined the crocked defender - and team-mate James Collins - after a drink-fuelled row with coaches at a team-bonding trip last week.
But McCarthy, who handed him his first Republic of Ireland cap, said: "I know Dunny personally, he's a top pro and a top lad. I love Dunny.
"He's had a great career. I tried to sign him before he joined Villa.
"If he's not playing then I'm thrilled! Not for any other reason than he's a bloody good player and it suits me fine if he's out. But I wish him well for the rest of the season."
