Mick McCarthy says he has been impressed with the footballing talent on show at the World Cup. But the Wolves boss will be sticking to his long-held beliefs that you can't sign anyone on the back of a golden summer, reports the Birmingham Mail.
The Wolves boss was covering matches for the BBC in South Africa and enjoyed the experience.
"I saw a few I liked - I thought the Slovenia right-back (Cologne's Miso Brecko) was really good and their goalkeeper (Udinese's Samir Handanovic) played very well against England.
"Both centre-forwards for Paraguay (Borussia Dortmund duo Lucas Barrios and Nelson Valdez) played very well and I've kept the teamsheets in my bag.
"The right-sided midfielder for Paraguay (Liga de Quito's Enrique Vera) looked very good, but I'm not looking for one.
"I was impressed with the left-back for Mexico (PSV Eindhoven's Carlos Salcido) against Argentina, so there were some good players there.
"If I see them again or their names come up, I'll know who they are and they're logged down. And as for the top players, we all know about them."
McCarthy is wary that despite the obviously high calibre of players from overseas, they can struggle to adapt to the English game.
"We've seen players come into the Premier League on the back of tournaments before - Dennis Rommedahl signed for Charlton in 2004 after a good European Championships but it didn't happen for him at the time. I remember him playing for Charlton against Sunderland when I was there."
