Wolves boss McCarthy delighted with Hunt capture

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is delighted with their capture of Hull City winger Stephen Hunt.

Hunt ended a long pursuit by penning a three year deal on Monday.

"It's clear he has many qualities starting with the sort of work ethic and determination which we expect as the bare minimum of any player at Wolves," said McCarthy.

"He's also a very good footballer, with the ability to create plenty of chances as well as chip in with a few goals himself.

''I actually became even more impressed when we played at Hull in January, even though it was to our detriment."

Hunt scored in a 2-2 draw that afternoon.

"There was all that speculation going on about us going in with a bid and he still managed to remain professional and produce a good performance against us, as well as scoring a penalty," added McCarthy.

"I'm very pleased he's going to be on our side from now on - with his ability and experience at Premier League level he's going to prove a real asset to the club.

"It's a sign of how much we think of him that we've gone and done the deal, even though he won't be fit for the start of the season, but he's well on the way in his rehabilitation.

"It looks like he'll be fit for the majority of the season, and will turn out to be a very important player for us. And when he's fit again, the very prospect of having a player of that quality available and fighting for a place will be a good position for us to be in."
