Wolves boss Mick McCarthy was delighted with Sylvan Ebanks-Blake in their 2-2 draw against Norwich City.
McCarthy took the bold decision to drop striker Kevin Doyle but Ebanks-Blake responded to his call-up in positive fashion.
He said: "Sylvan was great. He deserved to play. I'm sorry if I misled you all when I said I was putting my faith in Kevin Doyle (at the press conference).
"Sylvan already knew he was playing and it was the right decision.
"He played well and got his goal. It gives us healthy competition again for those spots up front."
