Wolves boss insists Doyle is fit for Republic of Ireland duty

Wolves manager Mick McCarthy believes striker Kevin Doyle is 100% fit despite claims from Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni suggesting otherwise.

Doyle is in doubt as Trapattoni's men prepare for Friday's Euro2012 qualifier against Andorra but McCarthy feels his main man is at the peak of his powers.

"Trapattoni says Doyle should be playing for a bigger club and is not fit. Doyle is 100 per cent fit, no question about it - just like he was for their last game," said McCarthy.

The comments come in response to Trapattoni saying Doyle was 'playing in a desert' for Wolves because his knee injury was not right.

"He used Doyle because he has only Doyle. He stays alone up front a lot for his club. I see him and he is like somebody in a desert," the Italian said.
