Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is ready to launch a £1.5million raid for Derby striker Steve Howard.

He is a long-term admirer of Howard, who is also a target for Fulham.

The former Luton ace, 31, has failed to score this term but his 16 goals last season helped fire Derby into the top flight.
