Wolves beat West Ham with eight from fined team for Man Utd

Wolves boss Mick McCarthy is delighted with the commitment of his squad players in their relegation battle.

McCarthy came in for criticism when he fielded what was perceived to be a reserve team for the game with Manchester United at Old Trafford in December and the club were hit with a suspended £25,000 fine by the Premier League.

Eight of those players featured in the 3-1 win at West Ham including Marcus Hahnemann, Dave Jones, George Elokobi, Ronald Zubar, Kevin Foley, Michael Mancienne, Matt Jarvis and Greg Halford.

But McCarthy has no plans to appeal against the fine.

McCarthy said: "I know there are loads of stats. It is a better result still, going down to West Ham and winning with the reserves, he said with his tongue in both cheeks!

"Look, you know the whole episode was a crock of nonsense. The lads who played at Old Trafford went onto play in the team, Hahnemann, Jones etc, etc. You know how ridiculous it is.

"I'm not appealing, not a chance. I've not even thought about it until it was brought up today."
