Wolves banking on fitness of Elokobi for Black Country derby

Wolves could be boosted by the return of left-back George Elokobi for the May 8 Black Country derby with West Bromwich Albion.

The 25-year old tore his hamstring at training on Friday and has been ruled out for four weeks but could be back in time for a potential relegation battle with the Baggies at the Molineux.

"He's not as bad as we first thought, but he won't play any of these next three games," said manager Mick McCarthy.

"I don't know how long it's going to be, but he's responded well."

McCarthy said that Stephen Ward would be the perfect replacement for Elokobi during his absence.

"There's no danger - he's done fantastically well. At least when he saw George go off, he knew where he was playing!" he added.

"I don't know how he got out of the team, but he's scored the winner at Liverpool, he's played up front, wide left and in the middle of the park, but he's played most of his football here at left-back.

"He's perfect - a great guy and he's been the best trainer. He's brilliant."
