Kevin de Bruyne has revealed that Jose Mourinho said no to a possible transfer to Borussia Dortmund last summer.

The 22-year old Belgian attacker was seeking a Stamford Bridge exit prior to the 2013/14 season when the Blues were linked with Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski.

De Bruyne eventually left west London to join VfL Wolfsburg in January but said he could have ended up at Signal Iduna Park if Mourinho had have got his man.

"Mourinho said no," the former Werder Bremen loanee told Bild.

"That's what they told me and also my advisor. But that is professional football.

"Where there is a lot of money changing hands, there is also a lot of politics."

De Bruyne, who joined Chelsea from Genk in 2012, has made six Bundesliga appearances and one in the German Cup for die Wolfe since arriving at the Volkswagen Arena in mid-January.
