Kevin de Bruyne must slap in a transfer request at Wolfsburg if he is to leave.

The Belgian is a big money target for Manchester City.

The Daily Star says Wolfsburg are standing firm and have made it clear there is no plan to cash in on Chelsea reject De Bruyne.

The German outfit want to build a side capable of challenging Bayern Munich for the Bundesliga title and know De Bruyne is pivotal to their plans.

A source said: “Wolfsburg want to build their team around Kevin, but obviously if he makes it clear he wants to leave them then they will re-think the situation.

“If something is going to happen then the player needs to put in a transfer request, then it will be a case of Wolfsburg getting the biggest price possible."
