Winterthur defender Elmer on way to Toronto FC

Reports in Switzerland suggest that Jonas Elmer is set to leave Winterthur for Toronto FC.

Der Landbote reports that the 25-year old left-back has agreed to a one-and-a-half-year deal with the Canadian outfit with the option of a further year.

However, TFC head coach Ryan Nelsen indicated that he knew nothing of the speculation.

"Geez, that would be a good [signing]. What's he like?" Nelsen said.

"I think he's a pretty decent player actually. So that would be good if a player like that comes in. But we'll see.

"I don't know, I'll have to read those reports from Switzerland and get back to you."

Elmer has represented Switzerland at U21 level and previously played with FC Aarau and FC Sion as well as Bellinzona on loan.
