New Tottenham goalkeeper Brad Friedel feels that the clubs positive pre-season results has them in good shape for the Premier League season opener next weekend.
Spurs recently edged Championship newcomers Brighton & Hove Albion 3-2 in a friendly and although it was a narrow victory, Friedel says any winning form is good form ahead of the August 13 clash with Everton.
"It's always good to win games. It doesn't matter if that's on the training ground or in a friendly, it's good to get into the winning habit," he told the club's official website.
"Okay, it's not the be all and end all in pre-season, you want to get through games for fitness, but if you can pick up wins as well it breeds confidence for the squad.
"The lads are getting more and more match fitness in, that's what we want, that's what pre-season is about and we'll be ready come Everton.
"You can tell in training that things are starting to gel again and we're all excited to start."
