Winning form great for confidence says NYRB's Cahill

Tim Cahill insists New York Red Bull's winning form has given the players some much-needed confidence.

The Red Bulls have won their past four matches to go equal top of the Eastern Conference table, culminating in Wednesday night's 2-1 home triumph over Montreal Impact, who had only been beaten once prior.

Cahill feels that things are starting to turn for the good at New York following a run of one win from their opening six matches and suggests this current streak has invoked a good mood within the Red Bull camp.

"Like I said from the start, we have to take it one game at a time. It's fantastic for confidence and for the club and the fans and all of us together," he said.

"The only element for us is if we don't concede we're going to win games, so we need to defend first and concentrate on what we're good at; keep things simple. They've got some good players but they didn't really hurt us until (Marco) Di Vaio came on.

"We seemed to keep good shape and if we stick to our game plan most games then hopefully after the effort that we put in, it comes out good."

Thierry Henry scored a double for the Red Bulls - the second a brilliant bicycle kick in the 88th minute - before Marco Di Vaio netted for the Impact in injury-time. New York's season record is now 6-2-4.
