Winning Champions League would leave mark on every player and fan – Fernandinho

Fernandinho has stated that winning the Champions League this season would leave an ever-lasting mark at Manchester City.

City prepare to square off against Real Madrid in the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday night and having made it so far in the competition, there is a slight chance that the Premier League side can go all the way this season.

Midfielder Fernandinho is already dreaming about claiming triumph in the competition and has stated that doing so will leave a lasting imprint on the players, as well as supporters, for years to come.

He said: "I've had some disappointments, I've had some happiness, so you learn from those and take something from everything.

"The pressure in a semi-final is high but when you've done something wrong you try not to make the same mistake again, and whatever you've done well you try to do again, so you can reach your objective which is to qualify for the final.

"Winning the UEFA Cup at Shakhtar (Donetsk) left its mark on everyone's career, and it went down in the history of the club and the country.

"And if Manchester City can win the Champions League it would leave its mark in the life of every player and fan."
