Win over Blackburn was so important for us - Everton's Cahill

Everton's Tim Cahill believes the 3-2 win over Blackburn Rovers on Saturday was very important to the team.

Cahill, who scored the winner in the dying moments, said it was great to finally get a positive result after a string of draws and the fact it moved them close to a Europa League spot was lifting for the players.

"We were gutted when they equalised the second time. It was disappointing because the momentum was with us and I thought we could control the game," he told the Liverpool Daily Post.

"But then we let in two 'worldy' strikes and all credit to them for that. But for us, for how hard we worked and the effort we put in, 2-2 didn't reflect the game.

"After Aston Villa and three draws in a row it was about picking ourselves up. We've had a lot of knocks and injuries and to be as bright as we were was a credit to the staff and the players."
