Defender Kevin Wimmer has admitted that Tottenham Hotspur performed very poorly during their defeat against Borussia Dortmund on Thursday night.

Tottenham are all but eliminated from the Europa League following a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Dortmund in the first leg of the Round of 16 Europa League clash at Signal Iduna Park.

Wimmer endured a difficult time during the game and has stated that the entire Spurs side underperformed against such a quality opposition.

The Austrian told BT Sport: "It was not easy - from the beginning they put a lot of pressure on us.

"We always had to defend. When we got the ball we always lost the ball easily too.

"When you play like this in away games against teams like Dortmund it's going to be very, very hard."
