Liverpool defender Danny Wilson has been told he faces a make or break season.
Scotland U21 coach Billy Stark knows the defender faces a huge season to prove he can cut it in the Premiership.
He told the Sunday Mail: "Danny has great confidence in himself and I'm sure when he signed for Liverpool he would have expected to be in and around the first team at this stage.
"Others might not have shared that view though because it's hard for a young player to make an impact at such a big club.
"I'm not too surprised he hasn't become a first-term regular but I think the loan spell at Blackpool last year will have helped him.
"The other thing that could be in his favour is that he is probably the type of centre-half Rodgers would look at. He has to be able to defend first of all but Rodgers likes his back line to build the play.
"It's a big season for Danny. The Blackpool experience probably ended up frustrating him. He had a spell when he played consistent games and then fell out of it.
"If the Liverpool thing is not looking likely he will be agitating to get a loan move that allows him to play week-in-week-out.
"I'm sure there are loads of clubs at Championship level who would take him."
