Jack Wilshere believes Arsenal can make a statement by finishing runners up this season.

Arsène Wenger's team have won 18 of 22 matches in 2015 and produced a convincing performance in the 3-1 victory at Hull City on Monday night.

"[Finishing second] would set a marker for next season and would be a progression from last year," Wilshere said.

"The last few seasons we've finished fourth so to finish two places ahead of that would be a massive progression for us and hopefully will give us confidence going into next season."
