Arsenal youngster Jack Wilshere is edging closer to a playing return.

The Daily Star says Wilshere could be back in action within a fortnight.

Arsenal are expected to arrange a private practice match to test the midfielder's fitness once he is ready.

The 20-year-old suffered an ankle injury in the pre-season Emirates Cup clash with New York Red Bulls on July 31.

His recovery has taken longer than anticipated after he suffered a setback in January.
