Wilshere soon to be rested by Arsenal

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admits that eventually he will have to give Jack Wilshere a rest. The 18-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough season with the Gunners, involved in every game except the three he was forced to miss through suspension after a much-publicised red card for a reckless challenge on Birmingham striker Nikola Zigic.

Wilshere also won his first senior England cap against Hungary in August and is expected to be given another chance by Fabio Capello for next week's friendly with France at Wembley.

However, the Frenchman accepts while taken aback by the rapid ascent of the young Gunner, Wilshere will soon have to be given a breather.

"There is a lot of competition in midfield, but less than up front at the moment - we have Abou Diaby out, Aaron Ramsey still out, so basically we have Alex Song, Denilson and Wilshere.

"If you look at the number of games Jack has played, you would have never expected that.

"However, given what is happening with him, at some stage I will have to rest him."
