Jack Wilshere has been ruled out of Arsenal's final pre-season friendlies with just a week remaining until the Premier League season kicks off.

The London Evening Standard reports a patella injury has seen Wilshere remain in the UK as his team-mates travel to Stavanger, Norway, where they will play the first of two friendlies on Friday.

Arsenal do not expect Wilshere to endure a lengthy absence and the decision to leave him in England is largely precautionary.
