Jack Wilshere could make a first team comeback for Arsenal ahead of schedule.

Wilshere is so desperate to return to first-team action with ­Arsenal that he cancelled his day off to put in an extra training session, says the Sunday Mirror.

The 20-year-old midfielder has not played a competitive match for more than 14 months because of ankle and knee problems.

He has managed two Under-21 ­outings for Arsenal in his comeback and boss Arsene Wenger has been delighted with his progress. Wilshere has come through unscathed and is stepping up his efforts to be ready for the first team later this month.
