Mike Williamson has urged Newcastle United to forget European talk and just focus on top-flight survival.
The Toon defender says this season should just be about staying up.
"Europe? Anyone talking about that is getting carried away, if I'm being honest," he told the Sunday Sun.
"I can honestly say that European football has never been mentioned in the dressing room. Not one bit - none of us are speaking about it. You'd have to be barmy to be fantasising about it in our position and I think that message would be delivered pretty quickly to anyone who started talking about it.
"Come April or May it might be a discussion we're having if we're in and about those qualification places with a couple of games to go, but the lads have been in the game long enough to know what our priority is this season.
"We're eight points above the drop zone - the same away from Europe - so our season really is in the balance."
