Newcastle United defender Mike Williamson has revealed how tight knit the current squad is.

The players can regularly be found at each other's homes, sampling a team-mate's cooking.

Williamson revealed: "We all get on, and it happens quite a lot.

"Our better halves are friends, they go out for lunch. Everyone lives in close proximity and everyone goes round each other's. We had Shola Ameobi round the other day for a bit of risotto. He tends to leave all the cooking to his missus. He very much stays out of the kitchen - probably because she's such a good cook.

"As for who is the best cook among the lads? Well, it has been said it's me but we've not quite got round to organising our own Come Dine With Me just yet to find out. I'm sure we will, though."
