Williams sees red as Middlesbrough held by Bournemouth in six-goal thriller

Rhys Williams gave away a penalty and was also sent off as Middlesbrough came from two goals down only to draw 3-3 with AFC Bournemouth at the Riverside Stadium in the Championship on the weekend.

The Australian defender conceded a spot-kick in just the fourth minute when he felled Tokelo Rantie in the box for Brett Pitman to slot home past Jason Steele.

Williams, who came close to scoring with a header early in the second half, wasn't far off giving away another penalty just after the hour-mark when Wes Thomas wrong-footed him in the box but referee Graham Salisbury waved away the appeals.

Following two early penalties, both scored by Pitman, Boro had struck back through Kei Kamara, Mustapha Carayol and Grant Leadbitter to take a 3-2 lead into the final 15 minutes before an own-goal from Jonathan Woodgate tied it up for the Cherries before Williams' poor day got even worse when he was sent off for a professional foul when pulling back Thomas in the 85th minute.
