Williams faces takeover rival in Blackburn battle

A takeover battle is rumbling at Blackburn Rovers.

The Mirror says American-based fan Dan Williams hoped to push through a deal this week but has hit snags in his talks with late owner Jack Walker's trustees.

And last night Rovers' insiders revealed that there is another concrete offer of £40m, which would come with a further £20m for manager Mark Hughes to spend on players.

However, long-distance calls yesterday revealed that Blackburn are in talks with the unidentified second group and the move will now not go through quickly.
