Luke Wilkshere has signed a new three-year deal with Dynamo Moscow.
The Daily Telegraph says sources suggest the former Wollongong boy, who has become a mainstay in the Socceroos defence and is a possible future captain of the national team, is not far behind Lucas Neill, Harry Kewell and Tim Cahill in the salary earning stakes.
Speaking from Turkey yesterday where his team is in pre-season training, Wilkshire said: "The financial rewards and the deal is great but it's never been about money for me. It has been about football, the challenges and improving myself.
"The game is about opinions. I guess I have improved with the national team and the fact I am playing with a big club in Russia means I must be doing well."
