Wilkinson signs two-year extension with Central Coast

Central Coast Mariners captain Alex Wilkinson has signed a two-year contract extension with the club.

The 26-year old, who is the games record holder at the Mariners, agreed to re-sign with the Gosford club until the end of the 2012/13 A-League season.

Wilkinson said it was great to be able to commit himself to a club he loves, as he targets another Grand Final appearance with the second-placed outfit.

"Time has flown. I'm really happy with the way the club is going, especially this year, the squad is doing really well and I'm really happy to get my future sorted out and look forward to the next couple of years," Wilkinson said.

"I love it up here, I moved up here and I love the lifestyle. The club has stood by me and I have really enjoyed my time captaining the club, hopefully that can continue as well.

"We are doing really well this year but I think we are going to be even better in the next couple of years as we build, so really looking forward to that.

"We have been a very successful club to make two Grand Finals and win a Minor Premiership is fantastic, but in this country everyone is remembered for being Grand Final winners, so if we can get one of them in the next couple of years that'd be great."
