Former Stoke City defender Andy Wilkinson is convinced by the quality of Tom Edwards.

The young fullback made his Premier League debut last week at Manchester City.

“I think he's brilliant," Wilkinson told The Sentinel. “I watched him a lot in the FA Youth Cup last season and I've also spoken a bit with him, while the first-team lads also say he's got a great attitude.

“I know a lot of people really like him and he can definitely go all the way. He's impressed everyone in the building.

“His quality is brilliant for his age and it's even better that he's local. He's got everything and just needs to push on now."
