Former England ace Ray Wilkins has urged the media not to overhype Jack Grealish and Dele Alli.

Aston Villa midfielder Grealish has been dumped to the U21s this week, while Tottenham star Dele Alli is proving himself an England first-choice.

“We always have to watch for that," Wilkins told talkSPORT. “Like with Dele Alli at Tottenham. When he scored that goal at Wembley the other night, all of a sudden he's the next Steven Gerrard or Frank Lampard. We have to stop all this.

“Alli's just started his career, give him a break! Let him evolve, let him develop, let him perform.

“It's the same with Jack. He's a fantastic talent and that has to be handled the right way, and Remi obviously feels he's doing it the right way."
