Wigan Athletic defender Paul Scharner is surprised that former manager Paul Jewell hasn't been able to do more at Derby since taking over.

Scharner said: "I am surprised Paul Jewell has not been able to do more for Derby considering what a great job he did here.

"We were all aware that if we lost this game we would be regarded as clowns - bearing in mind Derby's record - and we did not want that to happen."
