Wigan's Scharner convinced they'll beat drop

Wigan defender Paul Scharner is confident they are good enough to stay up after Sunday's draw with Arsenal.

The Latics more than held their own against the Premier League leaders as they earned a hard-fought point at the JJB Stadium.

The point lifted Wigan up to 13th spot and Scharner, who impressed at the heart of the defence, believes they will survive in the fight against relegation.

"We are now up to 13th but it is not over yet. This is definitely a very big result for us," Scharner told the Manchester Evening News.

"I said before the game I thought we were good enough to pick up a point.

"I am very happy with how things are going for both me and team. We will stay up."
