"I have a good chance of playing against Birmingham, although it's up to the medical people to make the final decision," he told the Evening Post.
"The injury is feeling better. If I play on Saturday, I'll have only missed one game, but I could have set myself back had I tried to play sooner.
"I'm looking forward to going back as I had a good time at Birmingham.
"Their supporters are up there with the best - they are the 12th man at St Andrews.
"We are looking to win the game as Birmingham are in a similar position to us.
"We need to do better than we have been doing for the last few weeks, so we need all three points."
