Wigan Athletic goalkeeper Chris Kirkland has jumped to the defence of under pressure England rival Paul Robinson.
"The stick has been unjustified. Everybody is jumping on his back when they should be getting behind England. I wouldn't have any reservations playing him against Croatia.
"Without a doubt, goalkeeper is the hardest position on the pitch. You can make 10 great saves but if you make one mistake, that's what you will be remembered for."
Quite apart from his concern for Robinson, Kirkland knows it is a massive afternoon for Wigan following the dismissal of Chris Hutchings.
He said: "We have a squad capable of pushing up the table but it's one thing saying it, we have to do it."
