Wigan's Heskey turns to yoga to beat injuries

Wigan Athletic striker Emile Heskey has taken up yoga to solve his injury woes.

Heskey has been dogged by niggling problems since breaking his foot at the start of the season and has now gone to a specialist in Oxford to try a revolutionary course of treatment.

The big hitman was sent away for a few days for special exercises, massages and yoga to make him more supple for the survival run-in.

Boss Steve Bruce explained: "We've had time to put some good work into Emile and now we've got the old Emile back. He's had a struggle but now he is OK.

"He's had manipulation on his back. They've eased his lower back with massage and swimming and he's been doing yoga as well.

"When you've had an injury, sometimes you're not balanced right and you get a lot of niggling problems. You find that it takes more time to get back.

"If you've been out for a year it usually takes you a year to get back. In Emile's case he had three months out, so it will take three months to get him back."
