Wigan's Heskey stuns Chelsea with late strike

The result leaves Manchester United clear at the top of the table by five points ahead of Chelsea and Arsenal. It also leaves Wigan six points clear of the drop zone.

A shock injury-time goal from Emile Heskey put a massive dent in Chelsea's dwindling Barclays Premier League title hopes.

Midfielder Michael Essien looked to have given Chelsea three vital points with a 55th-minute opener, placing a rising drive past Chris Kirkland from Nicolas Anelka's set-up.

But Heskey struck in the 92nd minute to leave Chelsea five points adrift of Manchester United at the top of the table.
