Emile Heskey has been ruled out England's Euro 2008 qualifiers with Estonia and Russia next month after an X-ray confirmed a broken metatarsal.
The Wigan striker picked up the injury during the early stages of Saturday's 1-1 draw with Fulham at the JJB Stadium.
Heskey limped off after just nine minutes of the game after appearing to catch his foot in the turf.
Scans have confirmed Wigan's worst fears that Heskey has broken his foot and he now faces up to six weeks on the sidelines.
Heskey's injury also leaves England boss Steve McClaren and Wigan chief Chris Hutchings with major selection problems for the next six weeks.
