Wigan Athletic midfielder Lee Cattermole is convinced he made the right decision to leave Middlesbrough in the summer.
Cattermole told the Wigan Evening Post: "I believe Wigan and Boro are similar-sized clubs.
"A couple of people have asked me whether it was a step backwards coming here, but I certainly don't think it was.
"I really do think we have a better team than Middlesbrough, and I'm very happy to come to Wigan.
"I think we will do well this year as we have the makings of a good side.
"I'm enjoying playing every week, and I feel I'm a bigger part of the team here than I was at Middlesbrough.
"It's good to know that the gaffer wants to play me.
"I'm just trying to pay him back by playing well and helping the team. He paid a lot of money for me. Other managers might not have taken me, but he stuck his neck out, which I'm thankful for."
