Wigan's Cattermole desperate to face Middlesbrough

Wigan Athletic midfielder Lee Cattermole is desperate to face former club Middlesbrough.

He told the Wigan Evening Post: "When I was a Boro player, I used to look for games against Manchester United and the other big clubs when the fixture list came out.

"When I signed for Wigan, the first thing I did was to check when the two games against Boro were happening. Boro are my home club. I appreciate everything they did for me, but I got the chance to move on and I'm enjoying it.

"I still go and watch Boro - I went to Old Trafford last Tuesday to see them play United in the Carling Cup. A few weeks ago I saw them at Liverpool too. I've still a lot of friends at the club and my family are all fans - a lot of my friends are coming on Saturday.

"It will seem a bit strange playing against them if I get the chance. But what will probably be more weird is when we play at the Riverside in February. Since I left Boro, I've had a nice letter from the manager, assistant manager and other people at the club. I appreciated that.

"Now I've moved away and it's all about trying to help Wigan get the three points this weekend."
