Gambia Under 20 winger Alieu Darbo is in talks with Wigan Athletic.
The Daily Mail says the Swedish-born free agent, 19, who has also had a spell training with Sunderland, hopes to sign once he has shaken off a knee injury.
Darbo was released from his contract at Le Mans in January.
He said: "I have a verbal agreement with Wigan."
