Wigan striker Kone wants to be Wembley star

Wigan Athletic striker Arouna Kone is determined to star in today's FA Cup final against Manchester City.

The FA Cup final feats of Didier Drogba and Yaya Toure have thrilled Ivory Coast fans - and Kone hopes to keep up the tradition.

Wigan's top scorer said: "I'd love to maintain that tradition of scoring the winner. The FA Cup has been closely followed in my country for many years.

"Didier is a huge hero in the Ivory Coast and it's fantastic for me to try and keep that Wembley run going.

"We were with the national team one day when Didier showed us a picture of himself winning the FA Cup and he said: 'Remember, this is our cup, the Ivory Coast Cup.'

"I never imagined I'd be able to get so far in the competition when I joined Wigan. But it's fantastic to be in a position to win it and to emulate Didier.

"There are a lot of live games on at home and this will be on live. There's a lot of excitement."
