Wigan striker Heskey suffers hamstring setback

Wigan Athletic striker Emile Heskey faces being ruled out of England's friendly against Germany after suffering a hamstring injury in Saturday's frustrating goalless draw with Stoke at the JJB Stadium.

Heskey limped off midway through the second half and looks certain to miss the midweek Carling Cup clash with Arsenal, while Latics boss Steve Bruce said he was also a doubt for England who face Germany in Berlin on November 19.

Bruce said: "Emile's got a hamstring strain and he's a big doubt for Tuesday. He's had a back injury which we thought was hamstring related, so we'll have to wait and see.

"Emile will see the physio and we'll decide how bad it is. But I would have thought at this early stage, with it being a hamstring strain, he must be a doubt."
