Wigan Athletic striker Franco di Santo is proud to be considered ahead of Manchester City star Carlos Tevez by Argentina coach Alejandro Sabella.

Di Santo was shocked to be picked ahead of Tevez for his Argentina debut this month in the goalless draw against Saudi Arabia.

He said: "When I saw my name in the squad list but Tevez's wasn't, it was a real surprise.

"It told me that what I was doing at Wigan was good. The gaffer has taught me many things."
