Franco Di Santo admits it was difficult to leave Chelsea for Wigan Athletic last week.
Di Santo feels he is ready to push for a regular start in a Premier League side, and he can't wait to get going.
He explained to the Wigan Evening Post: "Wigan is a great club for a young player to join, to fight for a place and learn about the game.
"Of course it was a difficult decision to leave Chelsea, because everybody wants to play for one of the big teams.
"But at this stage in my career I really need to play and I have to test my ability as a player.
"This is a very good opportunity and the perfect club in which to do that."
