Wigan Athletic captain Mario Melchiot is confident Titus Bramble can find his best form at the JJB.
Melchiot, who experienced ups and downs both with Chelsea and Birmingham, said: "People can talk about him getting stick from fans but I didn't know him then.
"I can only talk about the player I have met here and from what I have seen he's going to be a good player.
"He has a fresh start and that's what I would say to him, that he is starting something new.
"Because of that I don't think he should think about what has happened in the past any more."
