Wigan Athletic skipper Gary Caldwell has backed Roberto Martinez to take the Liverpool job.
Caldwell, 30, always felt it would be inevitable that Martinez's stint at the DW Stadium would be short-lived.
The Scot told the Daily Star Sunday: "If the opportunity comes to go to Liverpool, you take it. We all understand that. I'm sure he would take it."
