Wigan skipper Caldwell: Liverpool winner will stay with me for life

Wigan Athletic skipper Gary Caldwell feels his winner at Liverpool will stay with him for life.

The win takes Wigan to within a point of safety and just three points off fifth-bottom Blackburn Rovers.

"It's a fantastic feeling to score any goal - but to score the winner against Liverpool in front of the Kop is a memory that will live with me forever," he told the Wigan Observer.

"The Kop went quiet and all the lads came rushing over to me, and those are the moments you play football for. You will remember those big moments in your career and your life.

"It's just a huge win for us as a football club, and it summed up the togetherness and the desire in the squad. It was a great performance, and the work-rate from all the lads was terrific."
