Wigan signing Boselli eyeing Argentina call

Wigan Athletic signing Mauro Boselli has thanked his former Estudiantes fans for their support.

Boselli penned a four-year Latics contract last week.

He told the Wigan Observer: "Of course leaving Estudiantes was a difficult decision, but it was the right move for all parties.

"I had a fantastic relationship with the fans and people at my former club, who will always have a special place in my heart.

"I would like to thank them, the manager Alex Sabella, and everyone associated with Estudiantes for the past two years.

"Without them I wouldn't be the player I am or have this fantastic opportunity, I'm forever grateful."

Boselli has already earned two Argentina caps, and now having made his move into the English elite, he is hopeful more recognition from current coach Diego Maradona will follow in the not-too-distant future.

Boselli added: "Well of course to make the Argentina squad is an ambition of mine, and by playing in Europe I have a better chance of making that happen."
